Why We Built This Site

Illinois offers several public access routes, but each answers a different question. The Cook County Sheriff maintains county custody and Sheriff-created records. The Clerk of the Circuit Court maintains filed charges, dockets, orders, and dispositions. Illinois State Police runs CHIRP for public conviction information and a separate fingerprint-based Access and Review process. IDOC and the state registry cover still other subjects.
